I found the session INCREDIBLY useful.
The session yesterday gave me so many practical tips that I almost wish we were back in the semester so I could try them out.
I think it would be a very valuable investment if McGill could hire someone like Sanders who could regularly run sessions like the one yesterday as well as offer one-to-one guidance. I very much appreciated how Sanders provided practical, immediately applicable tips by modeling helpful techniques (e.g. posture, gestures, pauses, and inflection) and through interactive exercises. One of my main takeaways was framing presenting as an act of generosity. Throughout the workshop, I focused more on the tasks at hand and felt less self-conscious, thanks to the friendly and collegial atmosphere Sanders created. As participants, we felt comfortable sharing our thoughts and performances, which helped us learn with and from each other. I usually don’t volunteer in workshops, but I felt encouraged to read aloud in front of others, which was a valuable experience that I’ll carry with me in future events.

This substantive workshop exceeded my expectations, and I would have loved more time with Sanders!
